Catholics honor Mary, the mother of Jesus, during the month of May. In years gone by, students in Catholic elementary schools and Catholic high schools arched in May Processions usually from the school to the Church. One girl was chosen to be the May Queen in the procession. She placed a crown of flowers on the head of a statue of Mary while everyone sang “
Oh Mary, we crown thee with blossoms today, queen of the angels, queen of the May…” the traditional Marion hymn “
